AvaAdore: *taps her public address system microphone* Condom's name is Condom, call her that or go to jail. Love, Prez
Kandr Newall chuckles at the announcement. "Speaking of fundamentals of D/s. Yeesh."
Cara Lionheart shakes her head "I don't get the controversy. It's her name. Given by her Master. End of story"
Just so.
The power of the Dominant is granted by the submissive.
ReplyDeleteOnce her name was butterfly she has a new Top now. Her new Master, Sir Sin, has given her a new name AND she has also accepted it. This should be enough but she has also stated in public that the name she wishes to be called is condom.
Calling her by the name, other than the one her Master chose and she accepts, is disrespect to both Sir Sin and to condom.
Earlier in the month moose's name was changed to fatty the cow and to public cow. Thats what her typist wanted and what the dominant who named her chose. The agreement of a name is not between the players of glint, the submissive and the dominant. The agreement of the name is between the submissive and the dominant period end of discussion. To take offense or to attempt to rename condom is another form of white knighting.
PRG is not a bdsm community as I state over and over however there are D/s principles one does not mess with. Interferring between a Dominant and his or her sub is like interfering with a marriage or any other contract agreement. Put in simple moose terms ...its their life let em live it..
Those who think that they will just keep on calling her butterfly are hurting her. You hear that, people? Every time you do not use the name she is given you disrespect her Master and it hurts her. What, you don't like the name? Newsflash: It is not up to you. It, in fact, has nothing to do with you. It is your personal problem. You are not "standing up for" anything. Ugh!
ReplyDeleteAbout time this was addressed.
ReplyDeleteI have been publicly quoted as saying that, if condom is happy with her name then nobody has any right to disagree with it.
She is still the girl we all know and love and if people are going to throw their toys out of pram over this then they need to cop the feck on and get over themselves.
Shame on you all.

I told someone I play devil's advocate, that's not because I necessarily believe that way, but because I can see things others fail or refuse to. Is this a pure DS community? It is if you come from a DS background as the author states, but for many following the path in here there is nothing that tells you. I stepped through one path re-reading and interpreting from differing points of view.
ReplyDeleteThe Mama Allpa signs ask are you a good roleplayer, the sim sign says the finest kidnap roleplay sim in SL, even the rules are unclear saying the PRG is NOT Gor nor any other preset comparable RP scenario known. So we go to the 12 character suggestions (the old roles were much more obvious) - only 2 mention domination or submission, while the latter has at least as much emphasis on being a woman (!?) and bearing children (very appealing to those who just bought the HUD). Some may think it's obvious from the settings and kinks, but these fantasies are also shared by far more people outside the DS community than in it, including those who merely want to explore some aspects. How do I know this? I guide and advise many who just arrive, try to understand what they want. Once I have got across the message of the DS emphasis few return. I now try to get the message across earlier, saving me a lot of wasted time. Am I wrong in doing this, if so please let me know? I still meet players recently entered, but already part way through their tasks who clearly haven't been made aware.
I listen too. There are few who entertain all the excesses permitted under DS, and many differing interpretations. Should I ignore other people's points of view, belittle those who do not believe as I, using peer pressure or by any other means drag them kicking and screaming until they conform? We have already covered coercion elsewhere and once we go there, as someone recently pointed out to me, we leave the protection of the SSC warnings and maybe even open ourselves up to the legal realms of encouraging rape and punishment.
The simple answer, saving us all a lot of angst, is to state clearly and unambiguously that this is a purely a DS community if that's what we want.
those who plead for tolerance are encouraged to lead there by example. One does not have to like the name. But rubbing it under the nose of everyone at each occasion, on each place, permanently, hourly, is not what i call tolerant.
ReplyDeleteLive and let live. I also do not kick all those softies off the sim who white knight permanently.
Tami, I might be mistaken, but Den isn't a purely D/s community, that is why the roles and rules were written the way they were. And why, as stated somewhere else I can't remember at this moment, there is a sign that stats everyone can be captured. (including Dom/mes)
ReplyDeleteGlint was open Roleplay, encompassing all kinds of themes and ideas and fantasies. While keeping to the one thing it was founded on : Capture/kidnapping and Rape. I don't think that has changed, which was why YT has wrote the things the way she did.
Does gor themes exist? Yes. Does BDSM themes exist? Yes. Does family themes exist? Yes. So exists also Rape, Kidnapping, Corruption, High fantasy and Modern Technology. Not may places you can run into a Demon, an Angel, a Dragon, A Nymph, a Mermaid, an Elf, a Robot, and a Human journalist from New York, all gathered in the same square meters of ground.
I want to talk more about Dark Den and D/s in a proper post, but for now... I don't see D/s as the start or end of Dark Den. I'm focusing on D/s in this blog, because I was asked to help provoke thinking about D/s in Dark Den.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad for all the discussion happening on this blog. My sense is that we have some common understandings we need to build and share. This is a great way to do that.
To quote Juliet, as penned by Shakespeare:
ReplyDeleteJuliet:
'Tis but thy name that is my enemy:
Thou art thyself, though not a Montague.
What's Montague? It is nor hand nor foot,
Nor arm nor face, nor any other part
Belonging to a man. O be some other name!
What's in a name? That which we call a rose
By any other word would smell as sweet;
So Romeo would, were he not Romeo call'd,
Retain that dear perfection which he owes
Without that title. Romeo, doff thy name,
and for thy name, which is no part of thee,
Take all myself.
Romeo And Juliet Act 2, scene 2
Just seemed to fit, perhaps.
